After losing my friends on my first festival, I built a laser unicorn-on-a-stick to jam into the dance floor. For this I needed to learn how to code with Arduino, how to analyse audio and how to modulate laser pointers according to the music.
But the pointy end was quite dangerous while carrying around, so for the next festival I tried to find something that doesn’t need to be carried – and came up with a cloud-hat.
This was heavy, annoying for dancing, and hard to transport.
So I optimized and kept on building many things – until I finally came up with the idea to just re-purpose things I’m carrying anyway – drawstring backpacks!
I built one and people kept coming up to me, wanting one.
The first generation (15 pcs!) I made by hand until I got annoyed by it – and started building up a serial production chain for the second generation.
This was my first success on Kickstarter :).
After this, I built a third version, incorporating an exchangeable front side and several other improvements.
The NEBULITE fiber optic patches are basically a replacement front side for the third generation of my bags, allowing for an environmental friendly upgrade.
